Santa 2007

Here's my version of Santa Claus for this year! I wanted to somewhat re-invent his look, so I was looking into something more believable, as if he was really just an old man living in the north pole. I drew a bunch of other versions, most of them way more stylized.

I was curious about the way his modern look came about, so I looked it up online... Gooooogle is the best thing ever!!! Apparently that whole myth giving full credit to The Coca-Cola Company for Santa's modern look is not true. They only popularized the look that was already cretead by Thomas Nast and Clement Clarke Moore in the 19th Century...

I was a little late for Christmas this year, but hopefully you'll enjoy it!

Experiment

This was done for a homework for a drawing class taught by the legendary Barbara Bradley. She was pushing us to experiment with different media, so I ended up using some materials I usually try to stay away from.

How cool would it be if this deepwater monster could flash lights off his eyes?

I love playing with texture in a drawing... Wouldn't it be sweet if this scene was animated with these textures? If character was very stylized, with bold pencil strokes as lines; and the environment was rendered super realistic... Contrast is what gets my attention. It's a big principle of design...

I love monsters! It sucks because I'm not good at drawing them... I kinda see them in my mind, but it's hard put it on paper... Anyone get that feeling? Such mysterious creatures...

Workshop

I drew this one in the fashion workshop this week. Sometimes I like drawing the students better than the models... There's usually more variety in shapes and patterns.

Viking Lady

My friend Terry is working on a maquette for his Character Design class, and he chose to do a viking lady. I liked the theme, so I decided to try and design one myself.
