Experiment

This was done for a homework for a drawing class taught by the legendary Barbara Bradley. She was pushing us to experiment with different media, so I ended up using some materials I usually try to stay away from.

How cool would it be if this deepwater monster could flash lights off his eyes?

I love playing with texture in a drawing... Wouldn't it be sweet if this scene was animated with these textures? If character was very stylized, with bold pencil strokes as lines; and the environment was rendered super realistic... Contrast is what gets my attention. It's a big principle of design...

I love monsters! It sucks because I'm not good at drawing them... I kinda see them in my mind, but it's hard put it on paper... Anyone get that feeling? Such mysterious creatures...
